I have owned cars now for 20 years and have always been fanatical about keeping them looking good. I've been in the motortrade for many years so have had the opportunity to experiment with most the car care products available, below you will find a list of these that I think are just about the best you can use.
Product list:
Auto Glym Engine cleaner:
Armor All Wheel foam: Spray this onto dirty wheels and go over wheel with a soft brush, leave only for a couple of minutes and wash off.
Car plan Triple Wax car shampoo: Put a capfull into a bucket of luke warm water (not hot), using a good sponge wash the car, starting with the roof, then going to the boot and bonnet, then sides before finishing of with the sills, bumpers and wheels. Doing it in this order means your doing the dirty parts last. Rinse of with cold water.
Auto Glym Chamois leather; Once you have used one of these you'll wonder how you ever got by without one, they are brilliant. Just soak it in a bucket of cold water, ring it out and go over the car, regularly rinsing.
Armor All Tire foam: Spray this onto the tyres while they are still wet and leave. The tyres will stay looking good for ages.
100% cotton mutton cloth: Most motor factors sell mutton cloth and as far as I'm concerned it's the best for applying and removing wax.
Waxes:
1st choice: National Motor Supplies 'A' Grade car polish:
This is a cream wax that is easy to apply, you then leave it for an hour or so and buff off, the shine is second to none and it lasts well. I could not believe this stuff when I first used it and won't use anything else again.
2nd choice: Simoniz Max Wax This is a very good wax (but not a touch on the above) leaves like most waxes a power which is very annoying.
Note:
Auto Glym Fast Glass: A brilliant quick glass cleaner, spray it on and polish it off, couldn't be easier.
Auto Glym Vinyl & Rubber care:
Use this for plastics and rubber. I use it on the dash, I spray it in the door shuts and clean all exterior black body parts. It's also great if you clean your engine bay, afterwards just spray vinyl & rubber care all over the engine and inner wings, shut the bonnet and leave for an hour, open it up and I bet your impressed. If you try any of these products it's best to follow the instructions on the packaging supplied.
